The Twin City Liner is the high-speed catamaran between Schwedenplatz in central Vienna and the Old Town riverfront in Bratislava. Its 2026 season opened on 20 March, and the high season, with three sailings each way every day, runs until Monday 2 November 2026.
This post covers the rest of the year: the timetable and fares to 2 November, the gap in November, and the Advent cruises in December. All times and prices come from the operator's 2026 timetable and its season page.
The quick answer
The regular 2026 season ends on 2 November, with three sailings a day each way until then. From 3 to 26 November the boat does not run. Advent cruises sail on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and the 8 December holiday from 27 November to 20 December: one boat at 10:30 from Vienna and one at 16:30 from Bratislava. Economy fares start at 34 euros on weekdays and 39 euros at weekends, plus a 3 euro fuel surcharge.
When does the Twin City Liner 2026 season end?
The high season runs to Monday 2 November 2026. Then the boat stops until the first Advent cruise on Friday 27 November.
The operator splits 2026 into four blocks. Winter cruises ran at weekends from 7 February to 15 March, the low season from 20 March to 30 April, and the high season from 1 May to 2 November, with three sailings each way every day. The season page then lists the Advent trips, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 27 November to 20 December.
There is nothing on the timetable between 3 and 26 November, or after 20 December. The 2027 timetable is not out yet; the operator publishes it on twincityliner.com.
| Period | Days | Sailings |
|---|---|---|
| Now to 2 November | Every day | 3 each way |
| 3 to 26 November | None | No sailings |
| 27 November to 20 December | Fri, Sat, Sun and 8 December | 1 each way (Advent) |
| From 21 December | None | 2027 timetable not yet out |
What is the Twin City Liner timetable until 2 November?
Boats leave Vienna at 08:30, 12:30 and 16:30, and Bratislava at 10:30, 14:30 and 18:30. Downstream takes 75 minutes, upstream 90.
These are the high-season times in the 2026 timetable; the operator's live departure board shows delays on the day. The 16:30 from Vienna is the one to skip for a day trip: you would arrive at 17:45 with little daylight left.
The best day trip is the 08:30 out and the 14:30 or 18:30 back. In late October the last boat runs mostly in the dark. A guest on the coach and catamaran day in mid-October saw little of the river on the 18:30, and several on that tour paid a change fee to switch to the 14:30.
| From Vienna | Arrives Bratislava | From Bratislava | Arrives Vienna |
|---|---|---|---|
| 08:30 | 09:45 | 10:30 | 12:00 |
| 12:30 | 13:45 | 14:30 | 16:00 |
| 16:30 | 17:45 | 18:30 | 20:00 |

How much is a Twin City Liner ticket in 2026?
Economy costs 34 euros one way from Monday to Friday and 39 euros on Saturdays, Sundays and Austrian holidays, plus a 3 euro fuel surcharge per ticket.
The timetable prices exclude a fuel surcharge of 3 euros per ticket, so a weekday Economy seat comes to 37 euros and a weekend one to 42. Monday 26 October and Sunday 1 November are Austrian holidays and take the higher fare. Better seats cost more:
- Economy Plus from 38 euros, Economy View from 40 euros, First Class from 44 euros
- Captain's Lounge 56 euros
- A seat on the open deck, sold an hour before departure in good weather, 36 euros
- Red Tickets, a cheaper fare offered on every trip
| Seat | Mon to Fri | Sat, Sun, holidays |
|---|---|---|
| Economy | 34 euros + 3 euros surcharge | 39 euros + 3 euros surcharge |
| Captain's Lounge | 56 euros + 3 euros surcharge | 56 euros + 3 euros surcharge |
| Child 2 to 11 | Half the fare, plus surcharges | Half the fare, plus surcharges |
| Under 2 on a lap | Free | Free |

Family week runs from 26 October to 2 November: two children up to 17 travel free with an adult. Tuesdays are half price for over-60s and students.
The operator's 2026 special rates list three family weeks, and the last one is the final week of the season, 26 October to 2 November. On every sailing in that window, two children or teenagers up to 17 ride free with an adult.
On Super Tuesday, every Tuesday of the season, seniors aged 60 and over, students and people doing compulsory military or civilian service pay 50 percent. Holders of a disability pass get 50 percent every day. None of the discounts apply to the Captain's Lounge, Red Tickets or the open deck, and they cannot be combined.
When are the Twin City Liner Advent cruises 2026?
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 27 November to 20 December, plus Tuesday 8 December. One boat leaves Vienna at 10:30 and one leaves Bratislava at 16:30.
The Advent cruise is a single return trip a day. You arrive in Bratislava at 11:45 and the boat back leaves at 16:30, reaching Vienna at 18:00. That gives you four hours and 45 minutes in town, enough for the Old Town, a walk up to the castle and an early evening at the Christmas market on the Main Square, which opens on 26 November. Book early: there is only one boat each way a day. Tickets are in the operator's ticket shop.

How do you get to Bratislava when the boat is not running?
By train or bus, or on a day tour. Trains and the Slovak Lines bus run all year.
From 3 to 26 November, and on weekdays in Advent, you go overland. Our train and bus guide covers tickets and stations. On a tour, the Devín Castle small-group day and the private local-guide tour both pick you up in Vienna and need no boat.
The coach and catamaran day depends on the boat for the way back. Its listing moves the morning meeting point to the Vienna International Bus Terminal from November to March, so read your booking confirmation for how you return on a November date. Boarding for the boat itself starts 30 minutes before departure at Schiffstation Wien City, Franz-Josefs-Kai 2 in Vienna and at the Twin City Gate pontoon on Rázusovo nábrežie in Bratislava. Bring a passport or ID card: the operator requires a valid travel document.

No boat, no problem: pickup in Vienna, both castles and a guide all day.
