The boat leaves from the Danube canal at Schwedenplatz, in the centre of Vienna, and docks on Bratislava's riverfront below the Old Town. It is slower and dearer than the train, but the journey becomes part of the day out.
The 2026 season opened on 20 March and the high season runs to 2 November. Advent sailings follow on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 27 November to 20 December, according to the operator's 2026 season page.

When does the Twin City Liner run?
Several times a day in each direction from 20 March to 2 November 2026, then on Advent weekends until 20 December.
On 6 October 2026 the timetable showed departures from Vienna at 8:30 AM, noon, 4 PM and 8 PM, and from Bratislava at 9:45 AM, 10:30 AM, 1:45 PM, 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM. Late in the season it gets dark early, so the evening boat back means a river at night.
Where does the Twin City Liner leave from?
In Vienna, Schwedenplatz on the Danube canal (Franz-Josefs-Kai); in Bratislava, the riverfront below the Old Town.
Schwedenplatz is on the U1 and U4 metro lines. The coach-and-catamaran day tour ends at Franz-Josefs-Kai 4, by the pier.
Boat out or boat back?
Either works: the classic tour uses the boat for the return, so you come back seated after a day on your feet.
Going out by boat means an early start from Schwedenplatz. Either way, combine it with the train or a coach for the other leg.

Want the river without the planning? The classic day pairs a guided Old Town walk with the catamaran home.

Guests on the coach-and-catamaran day report switching to an earlier sailing for a fee of about 10 euros each.
Some reviewers found the free time long and took the 2:30 PM boat instead of the later one. Ask at the pier; availability is not guaranteed.
Is the Twin City Liner worth it?
Yes if you want the Danube as part of the day; no if you only want the cheapest or fastest way.
Guests who loved it describe the cruise back to Vienna as a highlight. Seats are numbered, and one group of four found they were seated apart, so ask about seats when the ticket is issued. Another guest said the return sailing was cancelled and a bus was provided instead.
